Today, our Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Vera Etches, under the authority of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act issued an order to all employers and persons responsible for businesses or organizations within the City of Ottawa, effective July 7, 2020 as of 12:01 am mandating the use of masks
Individuals who are unable to wear a mask will not be required to provide proof of any exemptions. This policy is being implemented to normalize the use of masks in indoor public settings. Along with proper hygiene practices and the continuation of physical distancing, wearing a mask will help lower the chances of an unmanageable resurgence in active COVID-19 cases. This especially important as we have entered Phase 2 of re-opening and hope to be able to move into Phase 3.
