The last several weeks of LRT construction have been difficult on the residents of Orléans, especially those in Convent Glen and Orléans Wood who have felt these impacts most deeply.
Over the last 3 weeks I have had the chance to speak with many of you who live nearby and who have been most affected by this work. I have visited several homes while vibrations and construction noise were at their most significant levels. I have seen first-hand the disruption that construction has brought to your lives and understand that the most unmanageable instances have occurred overnight.
I have worked diligently on your behalf to negotiate a new plan forward and am pleased to outline what I have been able to accomplish:
• Work on the north side of OR-174 from East of Jeanne d’Arc to Champlain street will only be performed during the day between 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• No night work (11:00pm – 6:00am) on the North side of the OR-174 between Jeanne d’Arc and Champlain will be performed.
• Minimal night work on the south side of OR174 between Jeanne D ‘Arc to Champlain Street area will be performed.
While we may never find the perfect solution, it is important to me that the community comes first and that residents have peace at night. The Stage 2 of the LRT is a great project that will bring many benefits to our community, but it should not come at the cost of our mental health.
Going forward if you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to the Stage 2 team at stage2@ottawa.ca and our office at matt.luloff@ottawa.ca
