Well, Orléans, it’s been a year since I was sworn in, and what a year it has been.
We’ve done so much work together and I wanted to take a moment to thank you and our community partners for what we’ve been able to achieve together, building our community, building our economy and building support for those who serve Canadians.
Some of what we accomplished together this year:
Opened our music lending library
Named Council Liaison for Accessibility
Made Petrie Island more accessible with a new floating chair with the support of Petrie Summer Smash and Community Pentecostal Church
Commissioned Secondary Plan study to bring more employment to Orléans
Supported large community events like Canada Day Senior’s Bingo, Canada Day at Petrie Island, and free skates alongside our community partners
Named Council Liaison for Veterans and Military Issues
Honoured our veterans with a Vimy Oak at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 632
Nous avons toujours beaucoup de travail à faire ensemble. Je vais continuer de vous jaser au téléphone, de vous écrire ou venir vous voir en personne pour discuter des choses qui vous tiennent à coeur.
J’ai été profondément touché d’avoir l’honneur de vous représenter, et c’est un rôle que je tiens à coeur. Des nouveaux défis et opportunités se présentent à chaque jour, et entouré d’une équipe dévouée et qualifiée, je prends les expériences et le vécu de la dernière année pour apprendre, approfondir mes connaissances et mieux servir notre communauté.
As we look back on 2019, I’m reminded of my favourite poem by Robert Frost. “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.”
Thank you for continued support. I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings.
