LRT sound wall update | Mise à jour des murs antibruit du TLR 🚇

After years of historic requests and advocacy, I’m thrilled to share one of our community’s most highly anticipated updates: the installation of 4 sound walls begins this week!

Ces murs antibruit sont un ajout bienvenu au projet TLR et seront appréciés, bénéfiques et utiles pour notre communauté.

Since the construction and installation of these sound walls was an addition to the LRT Project Agreement, their installation was not prioritized in the construction schedule. They were not designed to provide coverage for all the streets backing on to the 174. In fact, there was a gap in the wall installation behind Elderberry.

I have been working hard for you on this project. By tirelessly representing you and your interests on the project, and working together with the City and KEV, I was successful in expediting the installation of the sound walls and having them extended in various locations, including to run the length behind Elderberry.

J’ai fait la demande de prolonger ces murs à des endroits clés pour garantir une couverture maximale le long de la 174, et faire en sorte qu’un plus grand nombre de murs soient installés cette année.

The original plan was to install one sound wall towards the end of 2021. The plan has been changed to start construction on 4 sound walls immediately.

That’s a win we can celebrate together for our community.

Starting this week, construction will begin on four sound walls on the north side of the highway in these locations:

OR174 between Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard and Orléans Boulevard

OR174 between Orléans Boulevard and Bilberry Creek

OR174 between Bilberry Creek and the OC Transpo Orléans Park & Ride

OR174 west of Tenth Line Road

Les travaux préparatoires pour ces murs sont en cours depuis quelques semaines, et la construction officielle du premier mur commence demain. Il se peut que des arbres additionels soient coupés pour la construction. Ces arbres seront répertoriés et deux arbres seront replantés dans la communauté pour chaque arbres déplacés.

Les autres murs antibruit, qui doivent être installés sur le côté sud de l’autoroute, sont prévus pour l’année prochaine et j’entreprendrai le même travail de prôner une couverture qui fait du bon sens.
