A new crossing guard for Orléans!

The City of Ottawa is funding eight new crossing guards at warranted intersections across the City to help our kids walk to school safely!

One of the guards will be at the intersection of Prestwick and Payette and serve the students of Dunning Foubert Elementary School.

The new crossing guard will start in January, following the approval of the 2022 budget next month.

Alors que de nombreuses familles choisissent le transport actif comme moyen pratique pour se rendre à l’école, la sécurité de nos enfants n’a jamais été aussi importante.

Pour les enfants qui marchent à l’école, les brigadiers scolaires sont des modèles exemplaires pour une traversée de rue sécuritaire. Pour les automobilistes, les brigadiers scolaires sont un rappel de la présence de piétons.

Investing in road safety measures to protect our most vulnerable road users is one of my top priorities and I’m so thankful to collaborate with dedicated community leaders who share this vision.

A special thank you to the Dunning Foubert administration and parent council for your collaboration and important advocacy on behalf of your students. This new crossing guard will undoubtedly become a pillar in the Queenswood Heights community, protecting our children on their way to school everyday.

My work continues with City of Ottawa staff and the Ottawa Safety Council to identify and add road safety measures for elementary students in our communities.
